In the interest of "full disclosure", I want to admit that "johnyarrington" is an ex-colleague of mine and remains a most valued friend. Therefore, please discount any nice things he may say about my postings.
Regards,
John
P.S. I, too, have always valued Rhoda's postings, and, although it may be rash to say it, based on only what's she's posted on Dave's, I think she's an exceptional human being. I'd hate to lose her messages and I hope she'll continue to post - and perhaps inspire some of us. I know she's done so for me. |

I'm a Daveaholic. But life would be a lot more difficult without this addiction.
Cross-cultural situations with employers aren't always easy. But Dave's comes to the rescue with like-minded experienced teachers and peers, if you will, who know what's going on.
Occasionally I experience sheer frustration when trying to communicate to a Chinese employer, for a variety of reasons. Initially I get upset and want to blow my top, but invariably I keep my cool. Posting the issue on Dave's always helps. Even if a solution isn't immediately found, it's all about the cultural support factor.
Thanks Dave
But I've always wondered - do employers actually read these posts? One of my employers is obsessed with Western culture and reading advanced English material. But he would be in for quite a surprise, even a shock, if he read the stuff posted here. So, for the moment, I won't recommend Dave's to him.

I, Will, am not a Daveaholic. More frequent visits when seeking employment. Longer visits when employed....greater content and contribution of postings when paid prep time.
It has been said before, I can stop anytime I like... no problem, but as Arnie said...I'll be back. |

Yes, I am a Daveaholic, otherwise I wouldn't be writing this at such an unearthly hour. Especially when I have to organise and host a (belated) Burns' night tomorrow.. sorry, I mean today.
Rhonda- having just skimmed your recent posts, it would appear that the strife is with people on the China/Vietnam forum, not here. Why don't you continue to use this forum and boycott those others? Best of both worlds?? |

Hi
Basically I don't have the time to post as often as I would like ,having said that there is a shortage of interesting topics ,sometimes I post just to provoke a reaction from others especially on the Turkish forum but so few bother, indifference you see . No I'm not an addict but I can see how it happens to some people ,I pity their partners, like golf widows I reckon, and that must be like living with an addict . |
