Well done! When we start getting placements sorted we should exchange email addresses and keep in touch whilst we're out there, be good to hear how other people are coping with the experience! Smile

Wow, congrats to all of you who interviewed and received an offer!

I actually have an interview with Aeon coming up in mid-August, and I was wondering if you guys had any particular tips that might be helpful for me through the interview process!

Oh... and after hearing about all the trouble that you guys went through with your references, I was wondering what the case would be if I lost contact with one of my old employers...

Do they just send those extensive e-mails/questionnaires to the references you provide in the 'professional references' section of your application for employment or do they send this thing to all your previous employers? I had a translation job in the past but I lost contact with the guy who hired me, and seeing as how this whole reference business seems to be a big deal in the hiring process, I'm sort of scared that this might end up being a big problem. Anyway, thanks in advance for your help, and again congrats to you all!

oh good luck for your interview!

with regards to references...they just contacted the two people i put down as my contactable references, they emailed them with a list of questions (maybe 7) about me. the only problem i had was that my current employer forgot to reply for a week so AEON said if they didnt hear from her soon i would need another reference, but when she did reply they called me up the same evening. so anyway, just dont put the guy you lost contact with down as one of your references and i doubt they will try and get in touch wiht him.

ummm...when it comes to general advice, im not really sure, just what everyone else says i think...smile lots, be friendly with everyone, dress nicely and be confident in your demo lesson...i don't think it really matters what it's on as long as you present it confidently and let the students do lots of talking. anyway hope that helps a bit.

Thanks a lot for the response Tanya... that helps ease my worries about that issue Razz It's a good thing that you brought up the point about having the 'students' do a lot of the talking too! I was actually wondering just how much of the demo would be based on what I presented versus what I had the students do. Anyway, thanks again, and I guess I'll just get a trucking on preparing for the interview and the like again.

I wouldn't worry to much about references. I took two letters of recommendation to the interview and this was enough, they didn't contact either of my references.

Just be yourself in the Interview. I think its more personal chemistry than whether you deliver a good demonstration. They say aim for 80% student talk time, if you look up lessons on conversation you should be able to find something. Games involving props seemed to work quite well.

Hope this helps
