There are really people out there who are grifters, scammers, con artist,etc.
Grant it not a lot, but it would only take ONE to seriously screw up your holiday if they scanned your RFID chip, rip off your identity, then build credit with it, max it out and never pay it back.
There are probably some people who would scam your info from your passport photo page as well.
So to get back to the OP's original question I would say you could do a couple of things to get around it.
1) Send your CV and a passport photo, feign ignorance on sending the whole page. (this tactic always works for me, if they are not scamming they won't press for the passport photo page until you sign the contract)
2) If they insist you have 2 options, if you are really interested in the job)
a: Just say you would rather not for security reasons, you will send it to them by DHL after signing the contract.
b:Make a crappy digital photo of the front page of your passport with enough glare on the numbers at the bottom so they can't read any of them, this would prevent anyone from making a fake passport with your real numbers on it. (I have done this one before) |
