Thank Zoot... but I know if I study that for next week's exam, it will all have changed again.
I don't think you wanted to thank me, bhoove... so I thanked Zoot for both of us. Scary thought about new teachers with that cursory training in classroom management walking into some of these class levels the term 'trial by fire' comes to mind.

Yes, you're right VS, but thank you both!
Trial by fire seems to be the mode de vie for teachers! I know my first year was a blazing inferno.

VS - go ahead and study it for next week's rote learning test. It won't change any time soon
A lot of non-native English speaking staff have been sent back to their Arab nations as a result of not brining their IELTS up to speed, so I assume the new teachers are going to fill those spots. The next 3 years will make interesting Doctoral subjects.
Almost all the Emirati staff need to be taken from the classrooms and put back into universities for teaching rather than just English language education. And maybe as a result of the withdrawal of many teachers who failed to get their IELTS up to speed, the idea will dawn on the minds of other Arab nation teachers that ADEC does mean to reform the education system. Right now they know every trick in the book to ensure they're not actually made responsible for working. Too many years have passed with too much corruption taking place and this has made the Emirati parents suspicious and the Emirati teaching staff believe they don't actually have to work to earn their money. |

I know exactly what you mean Zoot. This is a process I prefer to be watching from my arm chair here rather than wrangling with the nitty gritty over there.
All the Gulf countries need to be doing the same thing and have been talking about it since the 80's. Interesting times...

(off now to memorize the previous post for the quiz... does spelling count?) |

| VS - spelling always counts. But correct spelling, well now that's another subject. For now, we'll be happy if you just put the right letters in the word, don't worry about which order they're in. |
