Yes, I was offered much more at Princess Noura but my best friend warned me anyone can read this and I do not know if anyone is posing as someone they are not - Im 100% genuine and I want to keep it this way
Cheers! |

|
|
I've received an offer from AETG through their UK agent for a job starting in Jan.....
Five days a week, 25-30 hours contact time, 40 hours in all.
Furnished accommodation provided. They have said openly that the visa is a three month business one that will have to be renewed.
It's about 20.000 a year, and the final month is a holiday.
For the location it says AETG, Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. I'm not sure if that is the name of a college, or that if have simply put the name and country of the company.
The U.K agent, Alison Morgan says they've been really good for a couple of years. She comes across as totally solid and trustworthy, and I WANT SO MUCH TO BELIEVE HER AND TAKE THIS JOB.
I've found lots of negative posts and just one good one on AETG. The good one is from a guy called jonathan middleton, and gives no email, which I thought was a little suspicious.
I would appreciate hearing from someone who works for them now or who has worked with them this year SO SO MUCH. please help if you can.

Sounds horrible. What exactly did you do to irritate them so much? Did they ever give any reason or indication for why they fired you? Do you know what they told immigration? Also was it the school or AETG agency which fired you.
I'm going to do it anyway. AETG, at least in most cases, pay on time and don't force you to live in squalor, and that frankly seems to be the best thing you can expect from any Saudi employer. I'm sure they have fired teachers on the spot for reasons which have nothing to do with their work performance. But then there are people on here complaining about this happening with pretty much every saudi TEFL employer, and so far you're the only teacher I now of who's had had this experience with AETG, so I can't say the risk is greater with them than anyone else. I'm hoping that if I make an effort to be as inconspicuous and inoffensive as possible, and always maintain a S*%t-eating smile, I can minimize the chances of this happening. |

20000 for a year with the last month as a holiday, accommodation provided and air travel paid for but NO reimbursement, as far as i can tell, for the cost of visa runs.
25-30 contact hours, but I've had been had skype calls with people on some projects where they work well below this. I don't think that's likey to happen for me btw, before people rush in for the pleasure of snuffing out any naive optimism I might have. Verily there are no bonfires for you to piss on here.
So what do u think what do you think what do you think, tell me I'm eager to know. 20000 with those conditions: generous, standard, less than competitive or downright insulting, which is it? |

I'd avoid this place completely. If you are taking a job just because they might pay on time, then it should ring alarm bells about what else they'll get up to once you accept.
While the stories about the driver packing your bags, etc are quite humorous, it does demonstrate how the higher level staff are going to treat you.
And 20,000 GBP is an awful wage. |

posh: Let them walk in with eyes wide open and just ignore the whinging that will, surely, be posted.

I have had a job offer from AETG via an agent based in Europe. The job location will be Riyadh.
They have sent me a one page contract which seems to say all the right things. There is also a 3 month probationary period.
I am puzzled by one particular condition:
'Total work hours shall be (40) per week of which (30 or 25) Hours shall be the effective teaching Hours. For hourly Wages calculation forty eight Hours per week bench mark shall be implemented in accordance to the KSA Labor Regulations.'
Q1. What on earth does the above mean?
Q2. Should I accept the position ? |

Q1: Looks to me like the 25-30 teaching in a 40 hour work week is the official contract, but the unofficial reality once you arrive is they "shall" expect you to work 48 hours a week for the same pay. That's my interpretation.
Q2: Only you can decide that...but sounds fishy to me. ...maybe try and ask them for some clarification or request they send you the KSA labour regulations?
However, it's doubtful they will readily make it clear, because if they had wanted it to be clear they easily could have done so in the first place rather than write confusing mumbo jumbo contract jargon that really makes no sense at all. How in god's name do they expect foreigners to know what is in accordance to KSA labor regulations? I think they are purposely being deceptive...or else they are just poor HR communicators!
However...having thought about it some more...there is a remote chance that it could mean that if you perchance work over the 40 hour maximum in the contract this over time will some how be calculated based on some 48 hourly configuration based upon some obscure KSA labour regulation??? WTF?

It pretty much depends on how desperate you are for a job and how much abuse can you take to get it.
