Dali is becoming a mess, thanks to progress. The narrow streets now feature aggressive drivers without class banging on their horns, loud, multiple obnoxious honks to simply move an old woman with her vegetable cart.

Strange thing is, when I threw a water bottle at one car, the guy seemed to understand when I told him what an **h**e he was. Another driver, I actually threw water on him when he went buy. He was surprised. Thank God for the non violent nature of many Chinese.

Thanks to electric bike alarms, auto horns, and so forth, the noise pollution in places like Dali is becoming toxic.

Dali, an architecturally charming city with wonderful weather, is becoming another ***t hole, like Sanya or any other place full of crass, classless, moronic, "nouveau riche," although most are not really riche.

Intersections are especially bad. Drivers don't stop, they just blast their horn when they approach. If you do go to Dali, find a place to stay well away from any street large enough for a car.
