You had better get used to this.. Otherwise you are in for a very long and sincerely miserable experience.. Take your planning orientated mentality and throw it into the waste basket until you get back..

Good luck

Same problem here with being told to arrive later after having been told to arrive arrive sooner.

Luckily, I waited until I had my Z visa in-hand before I booked my flight. Unfortunately, THAT wasn't enough caution. TWICE I received confirmation for my desired arrival date from the FAO. I booked my ticket a month ahead. Two days before I was to leave for China, I got an email "confirming" that I was to arrive on the Saturday before school started (the following Monday--- ten days later than I was initially told to arrive).

I arrived at the school on the only non-stop flight over the U.S., and that was on the first day of school.

The FL department head was annoyed that I was late in arriving and wanted to know why I was late.

You can take it from there.

It cost me about another 100 dollars to change my flight, an amount for which I was never reimbursed.

This is the same school that terminated me on the last day of classes "for health reasons" despite the fact that I was never sick.

I was smart about the flight back. I cajoled the FAO into letting me accompany her to the travel agency to pick up my ticket. Had I not done so, I'd have gotten as far as Los Angeles with another 2000 miles to go.

If there were another situation in which my expected arrival times was changed, I'd walk away from the job. Sometimes, these goof ups are a good indication of what's to come.

once FTs adjust to the planning (or non-planning) idiosyncracies of their particular school, its usually smooth(er) sailing. after a period of time at one place, you can almost predict like clockwork what the school is going to do (or not do) in any given situation.
