I'd tend to agree - and would add only that changing one's life is not always a bad thing.
It worked for me for the better. I went there a drunk; I left there a teetotaler. I went there broke; I left there well-off. I went there knowing almost nothing about that part of the world and especially about Islam; I left there a much better educated individual.
Plus, I made some priceless, life-time friendships.
