Dear sparks,
"Most of the advice on here must be sifted through and taken with a grain of salt."
Including, presumably, the above. It usually doesn't take too long here, I suspect, for someone new to separate the "sheep from the goats."
Regards,
John
P.S. And I'd say the sheep far outnumber the goats. |

Hmmm. Yes, indeed. Make sure youre not guilty of that very thing youre just rushed into print to accuse others of doing. People in glass houses and all that.
Ill try not to sound too pompous. I slipped up here but, as a rule, I try to avoid careless, ill-advised comments or post something Id not be willing to front up and say directly to someones face.
The majority of TEFLers Ive met have been intelligent, supportive, witty and kind just like a lot of the comments and help posted on Daves. Fortunately, the stereotypical bitter misfit has just not been true of most of my experiences. Ive been grateful for the information from these forums (long before 2008). The advice and view you get of working in another country is just not possible from a job advert. Whether or not you agree with those views and follow that advice is up to you. |

Yeah, It's true, some TEFLers are really quite alright and I definately wouldn't exclude myself completely from the "misfit" category.
Anyway, I hope that anyone else with uncritical info for the OP chimes in. |

I've already topped you with the 'pompous' remark. Sorry, you'll have to do better than that. |

You bet. I'll magnanimously and righteously concede your point.
What's a 'goat-grab', anyway?

So??? Were we successful in getting all of our papers in order at the US Dept. of Foreign Affairs? I understand that Foreign Minister Hillary Clinton has been engaged in other, less important matters...

Oh THAT! It's an informal term for a sit-down meal of Kabsa (Goat and Rice)...

P.s.- And, remember...always grab with the RIGHT hand... |
