Pardon my interruption of the semantic battle being waged.
Maybe it's because I've read to much Hemmingway, but I consider myself and expat. To me "expat" has never been about money. It's about people who are living in a foreign country without declaring any intention of staying or going. We are people separated from our own country and our new country. We're a sometimes necessary nuisance to our new country and an unimportant statistic to our old country (with the exception of family and good friends). The world is our oyster, but a home we feel we do not have. Now could someone hand over the absynthe? |

A little absinthe, and you'll never remember whether you were staying or going...
