On my way out the door Friday morning when I remembered that I have to have my passport with me at migra. My passport is being renewed at the embassy. Embarassed

Got an email Friday aft saying the passport is ready so tomorrow I'll try to get everything done at once.

Thank you for that, it hadn't occurred to me. I've been celebrating US Thanksgiving in Mexico for so long now I forget when the Canadian one is.

Got the passport then promptly went over to migra to wait three hours for them to tell me to go home and check the website each day. They said they were swamped and didn't know when it would be ready.

You know, printers at Santo Domingo could have it ready in two hours for less than half the cost.

Crazy. They told me it shouldn't take over a week or two unless something is wrong. You asked them if everything was OK??

No I didn't ask. The woman at the counter looked up the file quickly and simply said I should wait as they were swamped...after 3 hours in line of course.

$%^&ing migra LOST my file. Went in today to check on things as the website still had nothing when an agent came out and told me it was gone. Poof, adios, no trace of it.

They were apologetic and said that if I bring in everything tomorrow - new set of photos, the application, proof of payment (no need to pay again), and so forth, they can have it ready by Monday.

Evil or Very Mad

All I can say, Guy, is increble!! How kind of them not to make you pay again when they should be paying you for lost time and all 'round aggravation. Evil or Very Mad

Reminds me of the time the laminate on my Mexican drivers licence separated from the backing. I went to enquire about a replacement and was told:

a) I had to pay the full fee again (for THEIR shoddy workmanship!)

b) Due the rules changes, that fee would now be for 3 years instead of for life!
