Is the competition for these jobs fierce? |

| From what I hear, any jobs going in Kabul are with auaf and KU. Both World Bank/USAID financed. Read the previous posts before you sign up to join the "dregs" of ESL who have fled the Middle East, in particular Saudi Arabia. Both places are still run by a bunch of aging TEFL wannabees who recruited each other to help themselves to the funds intended for improving education in our country. |

| Going back to Basra, does anyone have any idea what the Bell operation is like and approx salaries. Hopefully, not like the set up in KSA! |

Egyptfan,
Have you scrolled down about 10 entries on this forum and read
" Bell's Ad - simply disgusted" ? That seems to answer several of your questions. |

Thanks. Yes, I read this post and wouldn't get out of bed for the salary mentioned. I saw the original ad weeks ago and thought it had to be a typo or a joke. That's why I'm asking here as the salaries mentioned in this thread are probaby with DynCorp and not Bell?
Bell advertised a few days ago, without mentioning salary, but it seems like an outfit called Luminus Group is handling the recruitment. So, just wondering if it a different contract with decent salaries. Then again, Bell.... and decent salaries - bit of a contradiction! |

The job ad for Basra says:
Bi-lingual Arabic/English in all four skills (interview will be conducted in both languages)
Seems that this will keep out the non-Arabs.

| The original ad for jobs in Basra was advertised as working for Bell Amman and it did not stipulate applicants being bilingual Arabic/English speakers. The last ad I saw did. It also made it clear that you'd be confined to a secure area while in Basra and would be flown back to Amman, Jordan for your days off. I forget the exact details but it was something like 5 weeks on (in Iraq) and 3 weeks off (in Jordan) [example figures only]. I also seem to recall reading that salaries would only be revealed to those who were interviewed. |
