I'm leaving Saudi on a final exit visa on Thursday (I have my visa). I don't have any liabilities and have closed my Riyadbank bank account, but my Riyadonline account is still open. It still lets me log in, even though it says I have no accounts. I went to a branch of Riyadbank today to ask them why my online account is still open and would they mind closing it, but they're just useless and unfriendly, so I gave up. I'm sure I'm worrying over nothing, but will this pose any problem with respect to leaving?

I doubt it. I left the Kingdom a few years ago on an exit only visa, even though I planned to return to a different employer within a few months. For that reason, I did not close either of my bank accounts in the Kingdom - I simply transferred my money home just before leaving, and left the accounts open with a balance of a few rials. Most employers insist that you close your account before processing your exit visa, but for some reason, mine didn't bother with this requirement.
When I returned to the Kingdom several months later, I went to a branch of the bank and presented my new igama. My account was immediately reactivated, even though the branch was in a different city to where I had originally opened the account. So I really don't think the existence of your online banking will matter at all. |

I also left a previous job in Saudi and did not bother with closing my bank account. I just wired what was left in my account before leaving. A year later returned with a new employer and opened a new account at a different bank.
As long as you are not owing the bank and you have cleared up money owed (utilities, etc.) with employer before your final departure. I believe your account would be declared inactive after some time anyways, and eventually closed, if you do not return or use the same bank again. |

Hhmmm...I haven't joined that particular country club--they said "Ahem--we're sorry, but the membership rolls are full at the moment." I suppose if I cooked my own dinners I could start my own 500 Club. Not terribly hard to do when I even get a company car with free gas. |

Dear Sheik,
Well, actually, I hadn't. But it's not bad
"A little Scottish boy ran into the house and said to his father, ''I've just saved twenty pence by running home from school behind the bus.'' His father replied, ''that's good but you could have saved 2 by running home behind a taxi.''
Regards,
John |

My Scots colleagues ALWAYS know the shortest possible route between classes - saves on shoe leather. I follow them: they're reliable |

In my experience the "Masalamah Sales" with the "Slightly used tube of toothpaste" etc are run by our cousins from across the pond - or by those people I refuse to name from South of the River Tweed ! |

Couldnt get in myself for many months.
One way to overcome the problem is to search "saudi" and you'll then find the most recent threads but the problem is youll have to do a bit of scanning as saudi is mentioned under more than one place.

So make up an oddly spelt word for example, "trimbby" and paste it on every saudi thread, others can just search for this word which will display all the saudi threads as other see it |

I find it helps to paste some slightly used toothpaste on the Saudi forum. |

Belated thanks for these replies. I had mistakenly been given the impression that Immigration won't let you leave Saudi Arabia if you have a bank account still open. |

That MAY have been the case in the past but I do not recollect having the problem on the numerous occasions when I left on "Final Exit".
As I understand the system (??) now you can keep an account but it will be automatically frozen when your igama comes up for periodic renewal.
Take all your riyals with you ! Leave the gersh in the account ! |

It predates the present Saudi currency of riyals and halala.
