New to the discussion, just saying that things here are not so dire as they may sound by reading back all the posts. The AC issue is ongoing in one building, completely the fault of the owner. CCQ did try to reason with him but got a less than helpful response. CCQ is looking for better premises. I am sure they will accommodate the teachers in future when better premises can be found. They did a great job getting teachers AC units as soon as the problem came to their attention. Yes, the building maintenance is not great but as said before, some folks here expect castles.
As for overload classes, teachers are paid on top of salary, so volunteers get more. Period. A batch of new teachers arrives soon (because someone is busting their ass to hire enough, good, new teachers), before next quarter, so overloads will eventually be a thing of the past.
As for the new "system" being put in place of the old (and very inefficient) one, it takes time for a new system or series of new systems to take hold and become efficient. Heading in the right direction is what matters most and as teachers (who freak out at the drop of a hat when it comes to change) work their way through the newness, they will either come to see the wisdom, be more accepting of change, or go. And there are always new people to take their place. The latest batch of hirees are just great.
Things are not at all meltdowny or bad here.
Just sayin. |
