Worked for this company (Edex) for two years. Rumor is that they are doing very well financially, as they were awarded a big contract with KSU this past year. My first year the company told many teachers they would be placed in Riyadh when they were hired, but in fact put them all in Buraydah, a real hell hole with a bad university program, Qassim University. The company contract allows them to move you wherever they want. Many teachers have fled from the company in the night, because the company may take money from the salary owed when teachers quit. They don't have a compound for teachers, but have an apartment house for some teachers in Riyadh. They don't have many different contracts with universities. Big ones are Najran and KSU. They lost two university contracts last year, one in Qassim, another in Medina. Much of the company is run by a syndicate from Jordan, mainly people who are related or know each other from home. Not much can be done if you have trouble within that syndicate. Not much else to say. I don't recommend the company. They are now trying to get proper work visas for teachers, but it remains to be seen. Because the company revenues have been going up steadily there are other companies interested in buying them out. This may make things even worse.

If you are not given a work visa before you leave DO NOT GO. There is not such thing as a "short work visa". It's a business visa. It is illegal to work without a WORK VISA. Even though some may tell you it is ok and no one checks it, that's like saying "it's ok if you take this money, everyone does, no one checks". sooner or later you get caught and you don't want to be the person stuck in the middle of that headache. Especially in KSA

You'll probably be better off with Edex if you get the visit visa, because they will try to keep your passport if you get the employment visa. Believe me, the odds are that you'll want to get away from there as fast as you can after you learn how they operate. If they have your passport, you'll be stuck. See the other postings about them, really.

Don't go there. They pay late, lie about where you will be, they pay the rent late and will hold your pay hostage and make you sign a document saying they treated you like gold just to get your final pay and ticket out. I am still owed about $6000 by those people (people is a generous term) .They are slime. Does that help you any? PM me if you like.

Have I mentioned lately that one shouldn't take every post here literally? (especially from It's Scary... Cool)

Read the many posts here on Edex and make your decision based on which ones you believe.

It's Scary must hate you if he/she is telling to accept a position with EdEx. I worked there & was not paid and now I'm back in KSA with a good company and many of us are old hands at the EdEx debacle and we are telling (true) stories that our co-workers have a hard time believing and they are true. That company will screw you any way they can and I'm surprised the management has not somehow met a violent demise yet.

nermacis, you gotta be joking! Well, some of the universities are good on direct hire, heard Raytheon, IPA, Aramco, and some other companies are good. Take the word of the posters who worked for Edex, we are telling you true and typical stories.
