I know many TEFLers who do exactly this. Rolling Eyes I've never understood how they did it...

I know someone in another area of the world who bought a puppy 4-5 months before leaving the country they were working in and was intending to leave it there. In an area where they eat dogs......

Mushakil

A girl on our compound brought a couple of cats over (from Korea), anyway it was a painless process by the sounds of it. They had to be in quarantine for a couple of weeks. I think she had a company arrange it all in Khobar.

PM me if your interested and i will put you in touch.

Seems a lot of trouble and expense ! To transport a feline ! Now, had it been a canine, I might show some understanding !

Oh... touched a nerve, did I?

Obviously I am talking about the many people who pack up to go to the airport for final departure, and leave the cat standing outside in front of their door.

And you know that it happens... way too often.

er yeah, you did because your post wasn't "obviously" talking about those people or you would not have had to explain it in your reply. Also, having never met me, I can't think why you would say that I "know that it happens... way too often." In actual fact, I've never met or heard of anyone who has ever done what you describe in 15 years of working overseas. Maybe its just that we hang out with animal lovers while you hang out with obvious pet anarchists...

Hope I didn't touch one of your nerves in response Wink

Dear sicklyman,

"In actual fact, I've never met or heard of anyone who has ever done what you describe in 15 years of working overseas."

I wish I'd been as fortunate as you. I worked overseas for 22 years, in Iran, Indonesia, and Saudi, and I saw it happen all too often.

Just as there are some people who probably should never have children, so there are some who should never have "pets."

Sadly,
John (2 dogs, 1 cat - all "rescues")

You were the only one who appeared to be too ... um... clueless as to misunderstand... take offense and jump back on posting what mainly appears to be that you were feeling guilty and thus had to be explain yourself (as if anyone had accused you)... or you are just a troll.

Perhaps you are just a complete newbie to overseas teaching?
