If one is desperate to get to Oman, the BC is probably one's last option. Most of their teachers are part-time and/or spouses of the many teachers already in the country. The easiest route in are the many recruiters which are always hiring. But, best to be able to provide the minimum CV required by the Ministry of Labor at that time.

I work DIRECT for a university here in Oman with an unrelated BA, a TESOL and a CELTA and I was approved by the MOHE in September and twice before that. We are a minority but we are here. It is difficult to get into Oman but not impossible like some people make it out to be.
Hawthorne was hiring anyone who could move recently. If you get a job with a recruiter like that and get the experience, it is possible for you to move on to a better position. The majority of ELS staff that worked with me over the last 3 years, some who only have an unrelated degree, have gone on to be approved by the MOHE for jobs elsewhere. In fact I don't know anyone that was rejected. |

Good to know, perhaps it's a matter of patience and being in the right time at the right place! |
