I was 8 years old but i do remember. Unfortunately I also remember the other two games in Argentina.(sorry cant bring myself to write them.) Have you seen trainspotting. One of the funniest bits. The saddest bit is when Renton points that 'even the English conquered us'

Just like to say that I went to Istanbul for the final and I had an absolutely brilliant time- not only because of the result of the match but the hospitality of the Turks was wonderful.

I have to say that I didn't appreciate being stuck on a bus for three hours without a/c in order to get to the stadium and when we did finally get there (after eventually getting off the bus and walking for a good hour) I didn't really expect to come across a half-built stadium but as for Istanbul itself, I can only say what a great place. I am seriously considering it for my next EFL destination.

Well I have loads of questions about Turkey but you lot on here seem like a pretty friendly bunch (much more so that my current spiritual home of the "Russia and CIS" forum- considering the number of teachers in Moscow alone its dead in there!). Mind you , I think I have missed the boat as far as September work there is concerned- at least for the particular organisation I work for, so perhaps next year.....

I wasn't blaming the Turks for the stadium- it was indeed the fault of UEFA. As I said, regardless of the result of the match I was more than enamoured with Istanbul. I have been in Moscow so long I had forgotten what it was actually like to be welcomed as a foreigner rather than sneered at. Russians are lovely people when you get to know them but not exactly the most hospitable people at first.

As for the freshly ground coffee- man the queue for the toilets was about a mile long- the hot bus meant the amount of ale consumed was perhaps a little more than usual (ahem) so I didn't want to pressure my bladder any more....

I, like you probably, have been to many staudiums around Europe and you have to admit that the Ataturk was a poor choice. I have never been to Wembley by bus as the tube is much more convenient so I can't comment on that. However, the only way to reach the Ataturk was by road and correct me if I am wrong but only one road. How it was expected that 80,000 people would be able to reach the stadium without the problems that occurred is beyond me

I couldn't get a mobile signal after the game either but like most other fans was too deliriously happy to care- apparantly it was the same situation back in Liverpool.
