| Me too, but from July, and it contained $20.00 (USD). But my Dad thinks it was mailed to the wrong address. So...maybe not the postman's fault. |

Back east, we call a 20-dollar bill a Grin.
I think maybe somebody in the mail system here is grinning...

A long time back I asked a friend to mail me some diplomas and other official type documents to me in DF. I remember telling him to NOT send them through the US Postal Service as they would hand them off to the Mexican Postal Service. I asked him to ship them by FedEx, UPS or DHL.
I called him a few days later to find that he had sent them by regular 1st class mail! Needless to say, I was quite worried and thought for sure they would end up on the wall of a letter carrier or MexPost manager somewhere. About two weeks later the large envelope arrived intact, in perfect condition from Servicio Postal Mexicano. It's not always that bad, now is it? |

It's not all that good either, that's for sure. I was mailed about 10 different packages in the months of September and October. I'm still waiting for three. I don't consider a delivery rate of 70% to be too good.
On the other hand I had something couriered to me from Minnesota by DHL. The guy shipped it Monday night; it arrived in my office Thursday morning. Of course, I had to pay about five times as much as it would have cost to send USPS - but at least I got it! |

| How about through Fed Ex or DHL? Are they reliable once entering Mexico? |

They're a lot better than Mexipost. I've used DHL a few times because I've been told they're the most reliable courier service in Mexico. They're quite expensive but fast and I've never had any problems with them.
When I came back from holidays January 3rd, I had a couple of packets waiting for me, so I'd say my shipping success rate for packages from the US via regular mail is running at about 90%. Don't ship anything of major value by post. |

| Thanks.. Just curious because I'm debating sending checks through fedex or auto deposit... but I'll need to open a Mex bank account first. |
