Did anybody else see this story today?

http://story.news.yahoo.com/news?tmpl=story&cid=857&ncid=757&e=10&u=/nm/20031023/od_uk_nm/oukoe_autos_show_buick

Buick is going to rename the LaCrosse in Quebec, because there, "playing lacrosse" is apparently slang for masturbating.

There was a teacher names Mancuso who taught in Japan. Man-kuso in Japanese means " caked-up vaginal excretions" -the ones that form if the female does not observe proper genital hygiene. He solved the problem by not using the original Italian pronunciation and ,instead, used the American way of pronouncing it- MAEN-KYU-SAW. He spelled his name in Hiragana the same way and all the laughs stopped.

When I was in the Philippines, I saw a Japanese company with a big sign- Kiki Ltd. "Kiki" is a vulgar word for vagina in Tagalog. Filipinos must be laughing every day they pass by the HQ of that company.

On a (slight) variation of the theme of this thread.
In the USA, there is a chain of popular Mexican-food restaurants (don't know if it's a regional, or national chain) by the name of chi chi's.

When in Mexico, studying Spanish, we were told by several people (including instructors) that this phrase--chi chi's--means t-i-t-s (women's b-r-e-a-s-t-s) in colloquial Spanish. They told us it was hard to believe a restaurant REALLY had this name. They found it hilarious.

But, I can't find the word in either of my 2 spanish dictionaries. (maybe, cuz it's too "slangy"?)

I saw an ad once for a Japanese tv show or movie called something like,
"Trials of the Tamada Family." If they lived in China, they'd have plenty of trials, because their name would sound a lot like "m*therf*cker."

(Another thought -- if by chance, you were German-Japanese, and your name was Ursula Tamada, if you told Chinese people your name, you'd be saying, "I've starved to death, m*therf*cker.")

I heard that Chi-Chi's was started by an American athlete who had a Mexican wife with a big chest. The name was supposed to be an in-joke, since most Americans don't know what it means.

In Mexico, there is a new kind of hair spray gel, called Psssssh i t Gel (the g is pronounced like an English H) The TV commercials have a higher volume (so you can hear them when you go to the kitchen for a snack?) than the regular program so suddenly the TV shouts out Pa SSSSSH IT H e l l.

But my favorite is the BIMBO Bread, Mexican professional football teams wear their sponser's logos on the uniforms, there is more than one team with BIMBO printed across their chests. Razz
