That depends. There are some campuses abroad. I can get an M.A. from Temple without leaving Asia and taking the classes on campus |
True - but that is rather an unusual case, don't you think? Also, would a degree of this type mention that it was obtained at a 'satellite campus' (or whatever they're called)?

I know a guy who's daughter did her classes on campus in Australia while working in China. |
Presumably she studied in Oz during the summer? Yes, there are a few places that offer this type of arrangment - where you can take on-campus courses during the summer months and be able to (truthfully) claim that your degree was not by DL. However, you would, as you say, either have to be working in a college which gives long paid summer hols, or be able to take a lot of unpaid leave in order to study on campus. As was mentioned earlier in this thread, a lot of people simply don't have that luxury. |

I would say the best senario for doing this would be if you were a certified teacher in a real school. There are not so many places where one can teach at a university with a B.A. You can do this in China but unless you take a huge loan, I don't know how you would pay for the classes on a Chinese salary.
I think there are some schools that offer one or two week intensive classes and then you do the work afterwards and submit it by email. |

Interesting thread.
An additional question.
Would online MA TESOL programs be acceptable for later working in the U.S. itself? As I'm American, I would ultimately like to be teaching back there again someday.
I'm also curious about that Framingham State College. Saw they even have programs here in Seoul. Very convenient. (Not that Framingham is online, its just it might as well be if they have programs here already as far as I'm concerned!) |
