Alexi:
I sense a threat. I will gladly meet you anywhere. Name the time and place.
As for your snippets, because you found a few articles on the internet it must be true! Let's generalize based on your experiences and two articles!
You missed a few good ones on the topic:
Our water is like rat poison:
http://www.geocities.com/Northstarzone/FLUORIDE.html
Doctor thinks fouride in water is posion:
http://www.americanfreepress.net/Alternative_Health/17_02%20HS%20Fluoride%20Is%20Poison,%20Sa.htm
Many other articles too. But then there is me, in the area I was living in Canada, where the water was perfect. No run offs, no acid rain, no pollution from the ground or air... The same water my parents have been drinking all their lives and they are in perfect health, as is everyone else around there.
Go get bluegreenyellow in the face with your next reply: it shows how dogmatically idiotic you are Alexi. |

Freudling, Alex likes to back what he says up with accredited sources. You can question these sources, as is your right, but on this board there really isn't any excuse for raising insults or threats, as you have done (and started, as everyone else has noticed.)
Yes, there are hundreds of UK vs US jokes and comments available, but the rest of us on here seem to be mature enough not to have brought them up in an accusative manner. It's also rather petty to twist someone's name so that you can assume a more patronising air. Please, a slightly more mature attitude is needed here. |

A threat? Somebody says that they must meet you and you sense a threat? Now that really is bizarre!

it seems not,
i get the impression we are merely being provoked into responding to various outrageously narrowminded generalisations.
the thread's theme should be everything and everyone outside of north america backward.
poland is full of corruption and so, backward,
british people have bad teeth therefore UK dental hygene is obviously backward.
freudling do you have anything postive to say about countries outside of north america?
i assume you just like to whinge but this thread started off interestingly as a discussion about corruption, which is a subject that affects people who live and work here like us, the idea of this forum is to allow teaching professionals to discuss topics which affect us all. the key word here is discuss, you are treating it as a vehicle for you to make broad sweeping statements and then insult anyone who disagrees with you or has disagreed with you on other topics.
and while i'm at it
back to the origins of blue teeth
"blue blood + bad teeth = blue teeth"?
a good play on words? am i missing something here? that can't be the origins
have any other north americans heard of "blue teeth" in reference to british teeth? i thought i knew american english but then i'm not american. |

I've only heard of "Blue tooth" wireless technology.
Maybe the focus of the original comment wasn't necessarily on the specific color of the teeth but on discoloration of teeth. In this case the color blue may have been arbitrarily chosen.
I'm not a dentist |

Alex:
I don't live in the USA, never have. Therefore, I don't drink their water.
But if you want to argue, here is a snippet from the Flouride Information Network:
"The evidence supporting the safety, efficacy, and cost-effectiveness of fluoridation of community water supplies comes from multiple sources covering 50 years of legitimate research published in peer reviewed journals, including both long term studies on large populations, recent confirmatory studies, and comprehensive literature reviews."
From the Academy of General Dentistry in the US:
"The Environmental Protection Agency has determined that the accepted "optimal" range of fluoride in water lies between 0.7 and 1.2 parts per million (ppm) or mg per liter. The limit allowed by the EPA in public water is 4 ppm. Backed by results from more than 140 documented studies undertaken in 20 different countries over the past several decades, fluoridated water adhering to these standards has been scientifically established as safe for drinking."
So what does this show? There are some who say good, some bad. All I know is that our teeth look great and I know of nobody who has suffered health problems from flouride in water. |

I will vouch for Freud's beautiful smile. Not only are his teeth straight but they are pearly white
I'm from the U.S. and I have decent teeth (only a slight overbite) but I grew up on a farm where we had and still do have well water. My mother also specifically refused the weekly fluoride treatments which were available at my elementary school. Perhaps it was because she thought the fluoride unhealthy or unnecessary. |
