If a school is going to subject a Black or otherwise non-White teacher to racism, why do they hire them in the first place.

I think most of the time, when a teacher is dismissed because of "bad pronunciation" it's a cover for some other reason. I knew a native speaker from England who was fired, because the students "couldn't understand her" but another teacher from Europe who had a strong accent has worked at the same school for a long time. The employer or other Chinese staff would need to have a very high level of English to notice in many cases, and they rarely do.

I didn't think that there was any kinda "enlightening" needed, since I have brought it up clearly before.
You said that you worked for EF Xiamen before. The dates you provided were the "fresh" years of EF Xiamen. I know when it opened and I know that they advertised in a Shopping center with their foreign staff of three teachers. You seem to know little about the EF center, even though you've worked there. I know that it's been a few years and our memories fade so to speak, but this is something hard to forget, isn't it Al? Tell us one more thing, please. Besides you, where were those two other teachers from? And well, do you recall your music at that Shopping mall? I was there listening to the EF music. Wink

Peace to Al's EF experiences
and
cheers and beers to all that can read between the lines of our forums Very Happy

EG

Are you referring to the final of the Xiamen English singing contest that we organised with Xiamen Radio at Xmas (2002 or 2003 can't remember)? If so, I definitely remember performing (singing) one of my own songs as part of the show. A good day/night it was indeed. Very Happy

Still don't know why you are interested, though.

Thanks for admitting you can sing (for EF) Smile ..no seriously I am glad you've cleared that one, since I was beginnig to think that you had no idea. And, I liked the show too.

Well, there are some individuals around that would share their point of views without having got a shred of experience on the given topic. Then, there are some others that would just tone those forums into oblivion. Wink
Anyway, thanks again
and
cheers and beers to the great EF performers that are also educators Very Happy
