Charles Veley's a fraud! There aren't 518 countries. You said yourself that Taiwan and China count as one. You think that occurred to Charles Veley? I think not!

Read the article carefully and you will find that Veley and others who are trying to go for this travel record have redefined the word "country." These people long ago visited all the countries of the world, and now their "country" list includes everything from Sealand to Chiapas to Kingman Reef to Ras al Khaima to Nunavut to the Spratly Islands.

To see where Veley has been, check out this link:

Well, you clearly haven't redefined the meaning of country have you.

It is all bullshiit anyway.

Well, I've worked permanently (defined as a year or more) in eight countries. Those are:

Greece
Croatia
England
Morocco
Poland
Lithuania
Serbia
Kyrgyzstan

As a teacher trainer doing one month or less intensive courses, I've also worked in:

Costa Rica
South Africa
USA
South Korea
Bosnia
Finland

Dunno if that counts as being in the teens, but the OP seems rather keen to have someone reach that magical number.

Very Happy Laughing

enclaves? Laughing

Veley's adventures sound strikingly similar to those anglophilic "Stories for Boys" that we used to read years ago...romantic imperialism a la Enid Blyton!

Somebody has resurrected a thread from back in 2005 with a similar theme.

http://forums.eslcafe.com/job/viewtopic.php?t=28427&sid=b1368e1a62b5cb1212cc6e14d5ff8995

Seems that there were more teachers on this forum into working in many different countries back then than there are here today.
