Hey Global... I know many men who have had the same experience as you in the Gulf, and I will tell you the same thing I told them... welcome to our world. You won't find many women who haven't experienced exactly the same thing since puberty ... in the US.

Cultures are so different... you'd get arrested and slapped with an ASBO in the Uk for that sort of behaviour!!

VS--well if I got all that attention from strange females instead of males, I wouldn't mind at all!

like2--your attentions will be welcomed and will not be considered a pest Smile You like2? Me like!

Twice in the past two years I've been approached by a smiling young woman in abaya garb...they just said hello, how are you. Nice for the ego, I guess, much better than those guys with their five-day stubbles. One time I told the latter Hey--I don't know about you, but I like girls. One of them laughed. I'll give them that--they're good-natured if you stand up for yourself.

When people discuss how safe one feels in a Gulf country, they usually concur that criminal assault with firearms is non-existant while manslaughter with a moving motorised vehicle is endemic.

Now the bar has been raised.

An article in one of the UAE's English dailies described how a Filippino beat to death another man after a quarrel over a church parking space escalated out of control.

As I circle my building several times nearly everyday, sometimes adding twenty minutes to my commute, I can see where the carpark assailant was coming from.
