Yes, in the suburbs. There's one in Bakirkoy and somewhere else I went last year for a private lesson, trying to remember where..but the surburbs yes, definitely. I said slightly upmarket! But it depends on your perspective - there are a lot of places more upmarket than my current abode.
Here there are definitely too many magandas... actually I don't really know the definition of maganda, but I think it could include men who stand outside their shops, stare at you hungrily like they never had sex before and make that hissing sound with their mouth like they're calling an animal, yes?
Sorry, off point. Yes, they are probably gyms in the posher areas, but this way you can build muscle and get fresh air! |

There is one directly outside my house...the new municipality are really working hard nowadays. Use at your peril though...these places should come with instructors as I saw an old lady take a dive on the ski machine. |

They put some of these up near my house too. It's kind of cute-- the old folks doing their darndest in the morning, ever so seriously, then the rest of the day, the neighborhood housewives gather and use them as lounge chairs, occasionally swinging or using a muscle.
They painted them bright primary colors, naturally causing the hordes of children from the nearby elementary school to flock to them, then about a month after putting them in, put up a sign that says children under 12 are forbidden and that it's dangerous...  |
