| Well, would you believe it!!! It transpires that the "I'm Loving It" slogan was thought up for McDonalds by Publicis, a French advertising agency. A cunning Gallic attempt to distort English in revenge for taking their spot as Number One international language, methinks! |
Ah, ha! It could also be revenge for all the English that's managed to sneak its way into the French language in spite of the best efforts of the Acadmie Franaise. |

| Personally I'm past caring how the language is being ravaged as long as I neither do it myself or pass bad habits to students. It won't be long before the dream of Dr. Doolittle will come true as everyone grunts and squeaks in a way even animals will understand, then what a happy planet it will be, I'm sure. |
This thread reminds me a bit of the movie Idiocracy about a world where, incidentially, conversations like this one would be considered (to use an expression from the movie) "faggety." An underlying current of the movie is the dumbing down of language resulting from intelligent people not breeding and stupid people breeding like rabbits. It's a very, dare I say it, stupid movie but it's the very stupidity of it that makes it entertaining.
