@leeroy...There's actually a book called The Politically Correct Fairy Tales, which I believe is where your Red Riding Hood story above is from. I read it years ago after taking a course in children's literature. It's hilarious. Very Happy

I've been wanting to use this in a class for some time now, but somehow I think the humour will be lost on my students...

Kattie, out of curiosity, are you in the Northeast or Northwest?

I'm in the Northwest and there are a large number of immigrants: Albanians, Nigerians, Romanians in particular.

Leeroy, out of curiosity,
Have you ever read any un-bowlderized (spelling, sorry, somebody will catch that) versions of Grimm's Fairy Tales (including the real Little Red Riding Hood)?

to jud,
I'm in Northeast...don't seem to be many Romanians or Albanians, I see a fair amount of adult Nigerians and Somalians around (strangely not many kids) and a larger number of Morrocans and Northern Africans in general...these are the children I see in schools.

regards

You won't see many Nigerian or Somalian kids. The adults you see will probably be nearly all illegal immigrants.

There are also a large number of Sri Lankans. Around Negombo it is standard to fill an old fishing trawler with loads of Sri Lankans (and of late they've taken to exporting large number of Pakistanis who enter on thirty day visas through the airport) and send it off to Italy. After the "cargo" has landed they simply scuttle the ship. A friend of mine works in boats in Negombo, and he tells me that there are hundreds of ships unaccounted for in the shipping register there.
