Been working for the last year at a private pratom skool in the South, and was put on a temporary tecaher's license. Worked for me...

I saw additional posts about the Thai Culture course requirement but not the Professional Knowledge Tests. Is the latter a requirement? What institutions require it and where is it administered?

As far as the last post about a temporary license....any details on that?

Yep, temporary for two years. I guess it's the usual "who your school knows" connection stuff that's rife in Thailand.

It seems most posting about this here are already situated in Thailand. How will these requirements affect someone just entering the country and the job market? Does it really make it impossible to work legally?

Will it be easier/less paperwork for teachers with this certification to renew their visa?

I'm in the second category of teacher that you've described and looking to come to Thailand in the next few weeks. Thinking of staying longterm.
