| I was very keen on doing the ride, but I dont think my gunky lungs will get me over the mountains at the moment - four weeks into the school term and i've come down with the dreaded lurgy... urgh. |

I'm now riding a bike in and around Torreon, and I am definitely taking my life into my own hands.
I definitely enjoy the independence of using a bike instead of our truck.
No way I could ride from DF to Cuernavaca, the 40 degree days here leave me dripping in sweat though, so maybe in 6 months or a year. |

| The hills might need some more practice, but you wouldn't have to cope with any 40's days. The temperatures here are some 15 degrees lower than that! |

So where do we start and what time do we meet? The route seems to start at the Bosque, which is fine by me as I live nearby. Gary, I assume you'll link up with us in the south?
And those folks certainly do look fit...the ride back is worse than the ride out, if I recall the route well by bus. I think I might be good to get to Ajusco and that's all. |

Hola,
While on the subject of bikes, I was wondering if someone could give me advice good bikes to buy here. From what I've seen here in Queretaro, The Alubike Grisley and the Benotto (cheaper alternative) RH+FS are the only decent options. Kona's are astronomically expensive. The same bike I bought for 525 bucks in the states is over 10,000 pesos here.
If anyone knows a good by in an aluminum bike with front suspension only, I'd love to hear about it. I'm open to other types of bikes that you think are of good quality and are a good deal, as well. I'd like to spend around 3000 pesos, more or less. Sorry to sort of hijack the destination/group ride thread. |
