Dear Global Hobo,

". . . it all depends on where you're prepared to stuff them."

And, of course, what you're prepared to stuff them with.

One could, I suppose, metaphorically compare teachers to "sausage stuffers," but then, of course, one would have to regard one's students as "sausages."

Regards,
John

Well, if I had near unlimited funs I wouldn't work at all, I would just move to Budapest, study Hungarian and take art classes...

I dont really plan on 'retiring' from ESL and doing anything else. Maybe I havent been in it long enough though, because I still like it!

Im quite lucky in that my hometown in the UK is a haven for foreign students, and we have a huge influx of visitors, especially from April to Sep each year. When I am in the UK (as I am now) I normally pick up a lot of teaching work with the organisations that host these short term visitors. These classes are quite casual, and I have worked with other teachers who are past retirement age.

I intend doing the same thing. I will probably take a leaf out of my elderly neighbours book too. She hosts students in her house for a lot of the year too. Naturally, it doesnt pay a fortune, but it does turn a profit, and she says that having young people around her, keeps her young at heart! I kinda like that idea, and thats my retirement plan.

I do accept I am probably not the norm though.
