I never heard of a 500K salary for a teacher
I do admit that is an impressive salary for a teacher anywhere
no argument here |

mrbbkk,
I didn't want to say you can't earn more than the usually offered income in Saudi. If you are good at writing books and so on, good. I was only looking at the average good pay in Saudi. The best pay I heard about is 60 K+, in usual non-specialist jobs. Good luck.

But you are right that 50 or 60K is not bad at all with free housing and no local taxes
I made 70K teaching in Tokyo but housing, food and taxes were all high
and it isn't what you make, it is what you keep
Plus how can I spend money when there are no women and no booze.
But then on the other hand, how can I survive |

mrbbkk,
The choice before people who elect to live and work in KSA is clear. You get a good pay, but you have no way to spend it the way you want. So you save. In a much easier place in the gulf I earned less but I was happier. At my age, well, I do not pursue women, but the whiskies ...It's watch TV, eat, sleep if you can, watch more TV, and watch some more and think about how long before you go completely mad. And it's a big problem leaving your cultural shock and loneliness at home and go there and work. I haven't decided yet which is better, work or holidays.
Regards.
