| The truth of the matter is that sometimes you just don't have a choice in life. I took a job with a recruiter and they treated me okay. It wasn't great. They didn't pick me up on time and didn't reimburse me for the hotel night I spent, but they did pay me otherwise. I just considered that the most important thing. They never failed to pay me my salary. It wasn't the best experience, but it wasn't the worst. Now, I am hoping to get a job as a direct hire. Everyone says that's the better road to take and I'm hoping it's true. The pay doesn't seem to be too different from my old job. I'll be making maybe 50 US less per month, but perhaps it'll be more dignified. I wouldn't go to China for all the problems I've been through, though. That would pay me probably 1/3 of a salary in Saudi Arabia. I have expenses to pay! |

I finally got my visa and I am ready to go to KSA.
I was hired by EDEX. I have few questions if someone can help I'll really appreciate it:
* did the semester start yet?
* is there any good news lately concerning Iqama?
*Is EDEX any better this year? or it's the same
Thanks

IF, and that is a big IF, they pay you then you should save all your money and be prepared for a midnight run the first time things go off the rails. I know a woman who took them to court for her unpaid wages and won, but she then was stranded in KSA and may still be there for all I know. They still owe me $7000.00 which I'll never see so it would behoove you to save your cash and be ready at any moment.
Start checking out local travel agents as soon as you arrive wherever you go so you might have as much information in hand as possible when the shoe drops or the balloon goes up depending on your favorite saying. |

I'm still laughing at how so, so true this is. I think within the first week of arrival 40 of the 50 or so teachers I worked with were checking out the local travel agents to find how we could change the return date on our tickets. |

The person who wrote that review claims to still be working for them and for 3 years. They must not be the brightest bulb on the Christmas tree to not learn from the first year! He/she gave them 1 star out of 5 in every category so why have they not yet changed employers?
"Currently working full time - been at Education Experts for more than 3 years"
I was just happy to escape losing only $7000.00 and have certainly learned from that debacle. |

Not all of us were so happy about losing that kind of money from that pack of running dogs. |

I'm not happy about the situation at all, but a woman who was ousted the same day as myself was stranded in KSA with no income and no way out. |

| She was still there a year later I heard. Edex had to keep her held up in a Boudl hotel in Riyadh. So how many people are getting screwed over by them this year? |

New contracts and vacation dates are the latest news flashes from KSU. No one is happy with them and it seems all teachers were classified as single status on the contracts, even the married ones with family here. Saudi labour law was not adhered to either. No raise was reflected in the returning teachers offers, and some have been there for several years at the same base salary.
All in all there is a tension in the air that smells of mass revolt. Many are considering not signing leaving the contractors with their thumbs up their you know where. Not to mention that vacation dates have been changed and moved back to an earlier leave date than originally communicated. Teachers have already booked and paid for flights on the ICEAT side. The EDEX side is handled differently. They have to get their flight through their preordained flight agent. They are not allowed to book them themselves. Probably because they think teachers are children and don't know how to do this.
Anyhoo. Now you may ask. What next? What can certainly beat this circus? All ICEAT teachers have been emailed and told to take up contract grievances with the recruitment manager who has apparently deemed most teachers not worthy of a raise. Well the answer to that is a great big #@%$ *#$ very much.
reporting from ground zero,

OMG I'm so glad I turned down the EDEX contract last year. To call the situation a zoo is an insult to zookeepers.
My condolences to all who are there suffering.
Just when you think direct Saudi hire contracts can't get worse...

Grendal,
The Edex side is handled differently because various people have to get their cut of the ticket sales, not because they think the teachers are children. At least that was the case two years ago. |

However you look at it, KSU PYP is a cesspool. The lazy like it because they really don't have to do much. Go thru the motions, pretend to teach and get by. Idiot managers, lower level managers selected by the fact they have relatives in management. (Think WIGGY here!) Support staff positions selected not by training or background, but by being friends with managers. The same staff positions also being selected because they are the same ethnicity as the managers.
Idiotic micromanagement because managers and their staff don't have a clue how to run things. Lazy, spoiled students and upper management more interested in appeasing them than actually educating them. Redundant training and worthless observations that gauge methods no one uses. Observers who have ulterior motives or agendas before the observations even start. One observer brags "he never gives out 5's." Thus, any observations are not only unfair, but worthless.
Recruiting companies that will lie, cheat and steal from employees as a matter of normal operation. It goes on and on. From top to bottom, KSU PYP is a complete waste of money and time. Gouging, making fake paper companies to support teaching-then charging lots of money for work not done. Ripping anyone and everything off is normal business procedure there.
If KSU PYP is any indication of how things are done in the magic kingdom, it will all be desert in a few years! |

Amazon has it for less than $10. Unfortunately, it is not available in Kindle edition.
