Your situation doesn't make sense. What do you mean that HR is "denying it?" What's "it?" HR departments don't approve iqamas; they only submit the documentation to the appropriate government agency for processing. Also, what's the 1000SAR specifically for? More importantly, are you the only teacher having this problem? |

I finally got through all the hard ship of acquiring my Visa and was annoyed to discover that I was given a 90 day visa. The Visa process I went through required me to do extensive medical tests among other things. I was told I would be receiving an Employment Visa. The Visa I have in my passport is in Arabic so I'm not sure what type of Visa it is. Having read some of this forum, I'm gathering that I can't completely trust what the employers or recruiters say. Any thoughts on how to find out what type of visa I have? Maybe somebody who knows Arabic could show me what the Business and Employment words should look like.

Dear Westword,
I think you can relax -the 90 day visa is standardly given to people hired legitimately. Once you get in-country, you get your iqama, often within a week or so, but it may take a little longer.
Since you went through all the medical test, it sounds like you may be a "direct hire" (or did you go through a recruiter/contractor) and you have a legal employment visa. Still, if there's a good college near you that offers Arabic courses, you might want to take the documentation there to see if someone can help you.

The employment visa is a 90-day visa; you're expected/required to apply for an iqama within those 90 days once you arrive in country. In your passport, look at the postage-sized stamp on the opposite page; it will indicate in English either "entry visa" (green-colored stamp) or "visit visa" (pinkish-colored stamp). If "entry," then you have a proper employment visa. |
