Yep, but that would be for jobs outside the Gulf.

Absolutely, hence the need to be flexible in one's destination. Smile

European languages and postcolonial literature. I have a PGCE as well, but in French, not in EFL. I prefer working with older language learners, and there are simply more opportunities to teach EFL and British culture around the world than there are to teach French and Francophone culture in the UK.

Not to put too fine a point on it, I have itchy feet, and I feel I'd have more to offer and more to learn outside of Europe. And of course, I could save more money in Asia and Saudi Arabia. My favourite aunt also worked in Saudi many years ago, and I'd like to teach there in memory of her.

Best to keep your expectations low; working in the Kingdom has changed over the years with declining salaries and a heavy push toward Saudization. A lot of the hiring is done by cheesy contracting companies, which provide teachers (generally those with unrelated degrees) to many of the country's university foundation year programs.

Hi guys! I have worked for Bridge as a Program Advisor for three years. Nomad Soul is probably right that we need to update some things on our website, but I can definitely clarify the confusion about the three different IDELT (International Diploma in English Language Teaching) courses we offer, and their college credit options:

IDELT Online
IDELT in the classroom
IDELT BL (blended: part online and part in class)

-IDELT Online is a TEFL course offered by Bridge in affiliation with University of Northern Colorado. It falls under the “extended studies” umbrella of courses there, and UNC issues a 3 graduate-level transcript to those who pass the course. To qualify to take the course for credit (not everyone does), IDELT Online students must have a BA from any university, or be a junior or higher in good standing at any university. This is not the same as, or at all associated with, UNC’s own graduate certificate in TESOL, which has its own curriculum and courses set by UNC.

-IDELT in the classroom is a 4-week, in-person TEFL course offered at Bridge centers in Colorado, Argentina, Chile and Brazil. It is not affiliated with UNC and has simply been reviewed by the National College Credit Recommendation Service (National CCRS) and recommended as equivalent to a 6 graduate-level credit university course. That is only a recommendation (no university underwrites the a transcript), and it’s ultimately the decision of every individual university as to whether they will accept that TEFL course for credit.

-We don’t regularly offer the IDELT Blended (IDELT- BL), but it consists of an online training, plus 2 weeks in an IDELT classroom. Therefore, it was recommended by NCCRS for just 3 graduate-level credits, rather than the full 6. Like the 4-week, classroom-based IDELT, it was not affiliated with UNC.

The different versions of the course make it a bit confusing, so I hope that info helps!
