Or without notice but with six months pay in lieu of notice of course, as has happened at ADWC for one.
And as time goes by that deal just looks better and better. |
Is this in reference to a recent occurrence? I am aware of around 10 people that got that deal from that wreck some years back.
And, yes, I can confirm that THAT is a VERY sweet deal!!! 😝😝😝😋 |

Some had the rest of their contracts bought out... rather than the 6 month pay in lieu of notice. But that was rather unusual circumstances.

The people I'm referring to were paid six months pay in lieu of notice. Probably the same occurrence you are thinking of, gari.
About five years ago?
Upsetting at the time, but they must be counting their blessings now. A lesson that life goes on... |

Yeah, I remember it. Getting the six-months "I've been a bad boy" fine from Tubby turned a bitter situation into a bitter-sweet one, I'm sure.
It's good to see that HCT may have learned a lesson, but somehow I doubt it. |

HCT learned a lesson?! Somehow I very much doubt it. The latest postings on glassdoor.com indicate the race to the bottom is continuing with management relish...
Cons
Place has become a prison with a standing violations committee. Ruled by fear and intimidation. Contacts are not honored and senior management are morons with no clue of post-secondary education.
I'm sure glad I got my marching orders some time back! |

'Dim mix my tabs up'?
Would that be a reference to the (former) Snoopervisor and 'cracked actor' known as 'Dimbo'? |

This is not the thread for digging up old bodies... water under the bridge and other platitudes...
Let's stick to news about the current situation at HCT.

Who knew I had such power?
Best to stay to the topic for information on the current application situation. Things are so up in the air these days. (more accurately sinking under the...)

The process is quite silly nowadays and not many are sure of the system (if there is a system).
Your equivalence process that you MUST do after you arrive (why not before no one is sure) can be very easy to complete, but it can also be mission impossible. I know of faculty whom have been successful in months and others that have started the process at the end of academic year 2014/2015 and have recently gone for vacation this summer (2016) having not been able to complete the process.
As of a month ago there was a freeze on hiring but due to a mass number of foundations students not being able to jump through the curricular hoops – this could all change tomorrow.
I would insist on knowing how to go about equivalency before you go. Walking in with that done would make r life easy. Some could write in to this post and suggest it was easy and they did it in weeks – and they may have – but they are an exception. If you are currently in your hometown it would make more sense to start the process there as you need to go as far back as high school (yes – true) so it would be very easy to take care of such paperwork if you have the luxury of doing it from home.
It is not straight forward. We had two colleagues with the same MA, same institute for the MA, same MA. One was granted equivalency and the other not due to their undergrad degree, and this was despite years of successful service at the college and a couple of contract renewals. The one who received equivalency was in their first contract. Amazing. |

Sounds like an excuse to get rid of the one with the highest pay check.
