Lots of excess makeup in the car, sounded like yakuza, heading toward a yakuza building, full body tats. Told me they were, cops told me they were. I`m usually immensely calm too. I@ve maybe done it once before in 3 years, nd missed the car. bad luck I hit, bad luck it was yaks, good luck I`m still typing this with 10 fingers.
So far.

I don't think you have anything to worry about! If they really are Yakuza the incident is too small and even more importantly to them no profit to hunt you done.
Just try to be more tolerant of people. If you don't want to hit a Yakuza car but you are willing to hit some woman's car you are no different than them. Maybe even worst. Treat all people the same, treat them like you want to be treated. I am sure someone once said something like that once long ago. It is a shame very very few people listen to his words of wisdom! |

Maybe Bat meant, "... we are dating in Crete." After all, he is from Sidney. |

Thank you for the kind words, G-s. However, you are more likely to find 'inbreeding' amongst your Yakuza drinking buddies.

I didn't mean anything bad! Loosing your temper is just being human! I was just giving the same advice I give myself when I get mad at something! Anyway take care and don't worry. I bet those guys forgot about you! |

Im fairly sceptical on the whole Yakuza deal. I did training in Takatsuki, a snack bar/pachinko haven just outside Osaka, and I was told that Ohh watch out for the Yakuza. Not before long did I start passing the illuisive `Tinted Black Window Gold Edition Cars` that were supposed to be the most terrifying aspect to this area.
The one thing that made me a little sceptical was one day rounding a tight corner towards my hotel, not looking where I was going, and toppling onto and over the front hood of one of these illusive cars. My initial reaction was fairly stupid and consisted of me yelling and swearing at the car. The follow up was the car window slowly lowering to see two eyes looking at me, and then the door opening and a suited man steping out to give me a little `すみません and then moving past me to see if there was any damage on the car. On his way back past me I did another stupid thing and used the limited Japanese that I knew by throwing out a `気をつけろ!` at him.
This is kinda where I am the sceptic, whenever I tell this story to my Japanese friends they all say the same thing `Oh you are sooo lucky he didnt hurt you`
...but I wonder if I really am lucky, or if maybe the whole Yakuza image is nothing more then a bedtime story to frighten the Japanese ppl into adhearing to the social demand of not steping out of line in this society.
I hear all the time of Gangs all around the world killing ppl and causing crime and doing horrible things...but not once in my whole interest in Japan have I come across a news headline that told of a Yakuza crime.
Anyways this is just two more of my cents and maybe I am lucky that that man did nothing more then walk back into his car and leave me standing angry in the street with a sore knee, but Im no real believer that the Yakuza are as frightening as the Japanese ppl make them out to be. |

How long have you been in Japan, a minute? Try reading a newspaper. Or if you get a chance watch the TV. The Yakuza commit crimes on a daily basis in this country. |

Six months, but the interest has been much longer.
I am aware that many ppl may believe they commit crimes each day in this country, but if so then I ask for proof, if such headlines exist please show me because Im looking and to no avail.
I am also aware that such of the Yakuza crimes may be `Hard to find` or `Hidden` amongst concealing events, but I want actual `Yakuza strike again` headline proof, no `Well this oil explosion was really the Yakuza but they tricked it out as to look like an accident` |

On a side note, I am reading an interesting book called "Yakuza: Japan's criminal underground". The yakuza have a fairly long history going back at least 200 years. However, their numbers swelled after WWII, helped and financed no less by the CIA. Apparently, since the yakuza were anti-communist that was good enough for the CIA. Today there are such close links between the yakuza and the political parties that they can never be eliminated. |

First, before you post a link such as that you maybe ought to read a few of those headlines, not one involves a death in the last six months.
In fact...I cant seem to find any. All those headlines are are speculations, like the `Hidden` or `Hard to Find` headlines I asked you not to post.
I dont know why youre trying to insult me with your insults, Im simply looking for hard on proof, and so far your fatuousness hasnt helped.
If you really want to continue the insults then you can PM them to me because they have no place on this board nor do I think they are appropriate for it. |

Synne.
a yakuza boss had to pay 8 million yen compensation by court order to the family of a man who was killed a few months ago by some of his underlings that beat the guy up while the police did nothing to stop it, and it happened outside a koban.
Much of the income from yakuza is now made from ownership and investment in legal businesses, and not just shaking down street vendors and pimping prostitutes.
Take no notice of Homer, he hasnt taken his medication today.

well did you know that more people get shot dead in the USA in one month than in Japan in one year?
I would be more scared of the USA than the Yakuza |
