Excess becomes the enemy, Guy - besides, St. Paul already said that he could do anything he wanted in his liberty...but that not all things were expedient (beneficial) - it's all in the Word...why look further?

All excess is the enemy? Would that include excessive preaching, excessive love, excessive rigidity in one's beliefs?

Excess is relative to the exceeder is it not?

They don't want to end up as reincarnated English teachers trying to disown their present incarnations by running off to foreign countries.

I agree 100%. Everyone should stop hoarding their wealth and give it to me. I will be a much better judge of how it should be spent.

Greetings from a newcomer to this page. But before I came to China, I taught in Mexico for a year. Tamara posted a reponse to my inquiry post on General Discussion, and I checked out her previous postings, so here I am. You folks seem to be bastante mas amable than the FT folks on the China page.

Regarding the "all paths can lead the same place" and thoughts on "life after life"...

Consider the perspectives:
*"it's not what you believe, but where/who/how you are." Just as astronomers can determine the make-up of a star/planet by examining the colors of its radiations and speed of its vibrations, the same can be said for humans. Folks who are "enlightened" on Maslowian pyramid are vibrating at a different rate than conflicted strait-jacketed humans.
*it's like the difference between having AM and FM radio reception. "The Kingdom of Heaven is within FM." Subtlety and refinement are of the essence.
*then there's all the interesting stories/movies/research on Near Death Experience...a common shared experience was that life-on-earth is a character training school...and those folks left the bliss and peace of 'The Light" because they realized they had major lessons to yet learn in their earth bodies...and what separates this from "oxygen deprivation-induced hallucinations"...is that folks came back w/changed value systems, based upon KNOWING, not BELIEVING.
*The Truth shall set you Free.

Why do many (not all) people hoard their wealth? Because they spend their whole lives slogging their guts out so they don't have to live in the kind of poverty that they see all around them and to provide a secure future for their children and grand-children. There's nothing wrong with being rich you know and to suggest that there is is a pathetic form of reverse-snobbery.

Although i don't personally agree with 'hoarding' wealth (i always try to be generous with family and friends when i have more than i really need-not often) i do believe that people are entitled to do so if they wish to, especially if they worked to get that wealth in the first place.

I agreed with this part: (not all) hoard their wealth...

Common ground is what I'm after...
