Now you're talking my kind of language.

I went in to Sok on the way home and was disgusted to see that EFES EXTRA had gone up to YTL 2.10 a can. What's the world coming to?

Shopping at SOK? That really is slumming it. Of course there is a worse shop, BIM but coz it is owned by the council it doesn`t sell alcohol. Have you noticed that Sok is so cheap that the workers don`t get uniforms like in Migros and have to wear those sleeveless bodywarmers with Sok on them?

Did you buy the Efes?

I think Sok has gone upmarket since you were last in Turkey. Careful! They're one of the cleanest and best supermarkets nowadays.

I did buy the beer, but from DiaSA, at YTL1.48 a can (approx US5.00 by the time this Bush muppet is over and done with).

I am afraid that you are wrong on all accounts.

Firstly I was in Sok very recently and it is a poor man`s Migros and here is my evidence:
The workers don`t have uniforms except for sleeveless unfashionable bodywarmers.
There are no attractive girls working there because it would be social suicide. Migros is of course an acceptable place for them to work. There they can hem up their uniform skirts and turn them into miniskirts.
There are no luxury products in Sok.
It is too small.
It is frequented by very poor people.
The bags are cheap and very small.
Nobody bar your goodself would admit to shopping there.

Compare the minimart in Eastenders and then Sok. You have to agree that the minimart is much better.
A sure fire way of telling a married man from a single one is that married men buy their alcohol from the supermaket.

How many cans did you buy and how many did you get through?

No, I really did my my beer from DiaSA and it really did cost me YTL1.48. I have distinct memories of walking in to the shop last night and making my purchase. I have a receipt, but I can go and ask the guy behind the counter to vouch for me if you need further proof. 31, I really am not wrong on this count.

Oh, and Bush is a muppet, too. Maybe you're a bush voter, and that's why you're so at odds with everyone.

You must of been sober then. Times I have walked home, stopped for more beers and woke up next morning and can`t remember where or why I bought more beer.

You can`t use alcohol receipts.

Then I would have to be American.
