darkhorse, I don't think the employees who take home a paycheck every two weeks give a damn about the economic ramifications on argiculture. People care about eating, buying a house and taking care of their families. Tourism pays the bills around here. Unfortunately for you and moonraven, people can't eat economic theories and Chedruai won't accept manifestos in lieu of cash. Save the sermons for the church of the converted. They are the only ones listening. |

Whats with the abuse of Che?
Most Americans I have come across don't think too much of him. In my opinion, and it is only my opinion, he was a humanist. Of course I can only conclude that from second hand sources and not the great man himself, before anybody hacks me down on it.
I do believe he was motivated by wanting to end suffering of the downtrodden. Thats more than can be said for the current President of the United states.
Anyway, peace out and mucho love all round
This has gone totally off topic, as most posts do

So, does your friend call himself a gabachero or consider himself to be one? |

Che is a cute nickname one gives to foreigners who go to other countries and try to get the populus to follow their beliefs. This kind of person thinks they know better than the actual citizenry, what is best for them. Usually, a "Che" is a burnt-out 60s radical, who never figured out that they lost the battle about 30 years ago. The real Che has become nothing more than a t-shirt decoration. |

Hola "Playa";
I have friends who work for the eco fundacion out of one of the resorts, near Tulum. I was wondering what the work(situation) is like in your area. I have 2 years teaching experience and tesol certification.
Before anyone responds to the "evils" of the area... don't. I am well versed in the situation there. |

billyd, I think I addressed that on a previous page. If I didn't, I can. As a quick reply, the demand for teachers here is smaller than the supply. It is a crapshoot. If you walk into the right place at the right time, you may get lucky.
BTW, eco-tourism is one of the fastest growing areas of work here. |

I see you must have gone to the same school as moonraven. They missed one of the three Rs.
You can put words in my mouth, darkhorse, but I figure most people can read them for themselves. Good effort, though. Typical move the intellectual wannabe. When faced with a valid argument, distort it. |

This is the weirdest thread on the Mexico branch in ages, (well since the Where in the World is Guy Courchesne thread).... It is almost like "Playa" envy here.
Dark Horse: Where are you teaching? You sound really familiar to the forum but yet you just joined last month? Do we know you from somewhere? |

If there has ever been a single post on these forums that would cause me to lose faith in the credibility of a poster, then this would be the one. |

I write books (actually they are my diaries, but they do have hard covers).
It is easy to fake your credentials on a web site. You can be whomever you want.
Have a hurricane with its eye on us. Have to prepare the school, so won't be able to chat for a few days. |

The verb to be does not take the objective. You can be WHOever you want.
How can there be hurricanes in Paradise? |
