Sweetsee...doesn't matter if you are coming from Bengal, Japan or Sweden. You will get work here.
Bangkok wages are 30,000-50,000 per month depending on which school you work for.
Rural areas a lot less....maybe 15,000-30,000 depending on the town/city you choose.
I only have experience teaching in Bangkok but if you ask kent kruhoffer of the Thailand forum he'll be able to give you the rundown.
Good luck.

Hi BW,
Thank you very much, that is very kind of you. Have you ever taught here and do you find your work there personally satisfying?
Much appreciation,

Sweetsee...
I haven't taught in Japan...at 35 I might be too old for that sudden rush of capitalist consumerism and the sight of grown women in school uniforms on public transport.
Anyway my girlfriend can't live there!!
Thai's aren't exactly the world's most dutiful and academic minded people.
I have only taught primary school kids here ranging from 6-12 yrs old.
But teaching kids has its rewards and i can't criticise their enthusiasm and exhuberance....!
Ability wise they arent as sharp as the Italian kids i taught prior to coming here but they are streets ahead of some of the Qatari kids i have taught in terms of work covered and vocabulary retained. |

Ah BW,
You've given me a good chuckle for the day with your remark about public transport, almost as hard to handle as the sight of unrestrained children floating around the dashboards of automobiles, or the woman I once saw with her infant strapped to her chest while driving.
Have a great weekend,
