Strange, indeed, that such a reincarnation should spring to mind, Herr Schwartz. Cool

No way. HC and Bertrand are two different characters. HC just hated the communists, Bertrand hates everything about China. And Bertie is an intellectual. HC was not.

I have been doing my best to recall where I have seen such long winded diatribe that goes nowhere and proves nothing ad nauseum. Then it him me like a ton of maple syrup. Hubei Canuck. Me thinks our old friend Hubei Canuck is now back with us in the form of Dr. bertrand!!

Mystery solved??

Raise the grand old Canadian flag and pass the maple syrup, please?

To be fair, Bertrand didn't start this thread and most of the diatribe has been instigated by "his fan base". Rolling Eyes

Leave the poor guy alone! Geez!

Good afternoon in sunnny Mexico, land of the soon to be no more VW Beetle. VW are doing just fine in China, let me tell you.

To say I "started" this thread is a bit like saying Princip started WW1 by killing Arch Duke Ferdinand - yes and no.
I think B. may have in fact initiated it by gratuitously insulting thousands of people in a public forum. Did he retract or apologise? That's not in the guy's [or gal's] nature. And he gets better. The tenor of his overblown verbosity annoys many. His subject matter is limited to:
* China and Chinese suck.
* EF sucks [and it may well, but his shady past involvement with this group is something he refuses to come clean on].
* China FTs suck big time.
So this thread shows no signs of fading; thanks for your post by the way.

Okay, I shouldn't have said "poor guy". He's quite capable of looking after himself. However, I noticed a certain frenzy building up around Bertrand, some of it justified. It's like he's becoming the Anti-EFL teacher - the teacher we most love to hate. I suppose it can be quite fun for Bertrand and his "followers" to whip up a stir. It seems more like a comedy to me. Besides, if Bertrand really was a jerk with nothing interesting to say would we just ignore him? But he does, doesn't he?

I'm personally looking forward to the new episode of "Bertrand".

Tuesday and Thursday must be slow days at the office for Berts. Keep those eyes peeled, Daffy.
