You're right, canuck, and the reason our State Dept won't pressure for investigation is that protecting American citizens is no longer a true priority of the Consulates, if it ever was, but rather, keeping happy relations between the governments (as distinct from a government's citizens).

The only hope of applying pressure to Consulates is through the State Dept. as far as I can see, which would require a lot of people to actively push their Congressmen and Senators (the latter being a harder class to pressure, except for residents of Alaska).

How does this sound: a two-pronged class action civil suit against the SD and/or applying Congressional pressure (on a meaningful scale) to force Embassies and Consulates to put help for citizens back at the top of their priority list and to hire our own citizens instead of foeign nationals AND for the gov't to pay for it!

Who wants in?

And BTW to you negative posters on the Prisoner of Wonderland site (Korean ESL), as I remember one problem the 2 girls were confronting was sexual harassment - may be funny to you but can be quite frightening to people in a foreign country. Maybe it will happen to you sometime - we'll see if you're laughing then.

Yeah. Poor girl. It must have been really awful.

That's why she's back working in South Korea again ... Rolling Eyes
