Well, the last I heard, Japan was still under the United States' nuclear umbrella. A clear cut nuclear attack on Japan would, I'm convinced, result in a nuclear response.

But I'm less worried about that than the scenario suggest above in which a desperate North Korea strapped for cash is willing to sell some of its new technology to the highest bidder.

This is all missing the bigger picture. I read in the Yomiuri today that sanctions on North Korea are going to raise the price of "autumn staples" such as matsutake mushrooms.

This is about the funniest thing I've heard all day! Laughing Laughing Laughing

Is anyone afraid of going to Japan (as I am) because of all of this?

Seem to remember reading an article of US airplanes actually dropping atom bombs by mistake in Europe. Hack pilots hadn't fastened the A bombs securely so a couple of them dropped into the ocean around Europe. They have probably recovered them. At an airport in England an A bomb was supposed to have fallen out the rear of a cargo plane and skidded along the tarmac in front of hundreds of onlookers. Interesting scenario. if only the people had known. Comments might have been "Now Johnny that is an atom bomb coming to-wards us. Isn't that interesting"

I'm still more worried about earthquakes than Kim's sabre-rattling. Nobody here in Tokyo seems especially worried- or if they are, they aren't saying anything... Wink

Not that I was even around back then, but this isn't on par with something like the Cuban Missile Crisis (which I'm sure was scary enough for people who lived through it) and that situation was resolved, albeit among extremely high tensions.

Things are getting interesting, but no reason to panic.

Not yet, anyway. Wink
