I had the same 90 out of 180 days visa and tried to get a new visa when I came back after Bayram, but they would't let me. I ended up having to get a long-term residence visa.

Where did you try to do the visa run? Which Bayram? Do you mean Kurban Bayram last year?

Has there been any further word yet, on when the 90 of 180 is coming into effect?

Seems if you fly in, you get the 90 out of 180 and if you cross on train or bus you get the old one. Right?

Anyway, getting a residence permit is not too hard, and as a test of whether the school that hires you is at all decent, they should pay for it. If you're in for around a year, and have to pay for yourself, then it will cost roughly $500.00 for 10 months. You'll need $300 for every month you stay in a bank here or exchange dollars for lira at an exchange place...yadda yadda There's a thread about it around here I'm sure.

But will the Visa's that get stamped with the 90 of 180 be taken as such, or just as the 90?

Just wanting to know if it's been put into effect yet or not is all.
I am looking at getting a residence visa, just wanting to ensure everything else is sorted firstly though.

I went to Bulgaria recently with the 90/180 day sticker in my passport and I was able to re-enter, I had a nice mini holiday there for 3 days, don't know if that influenced anything (like if I immediately re-entered). They gave me another 90/180 day sticker and didn't ask any questions about it. This was just last week.

Does a visa run have to be on the day it runs out please?

Or can it be a few days before?

Thanks in advance.

I've been here since the mid 90's and can count on the fingers of one hand the number of times I've done the visa run. So whats so difficult about getting a rp? ıf you are qualified enough and don't work at some fly by night dump pretending to be a language school, these little formalities should not be a problem for you. Now we have the proposed idea about recruiting a small army of foreigners to come here to teach, are they (moe) going to sort out this nonsense once and for all. However, there is a way around this that would solve all your problems, go for citizenship!

No it doesn't, it's actually better if you go before the day it runs out just to be on the safe side. Remember it's 90 days before it runs out, not 3 months exactly.

So, what's the latest news??* I got to do a summer camp then I'll be out of here in august. Which means one more visa run. My last visa (current one) is the old one. If I get the new one on my next run I don't care .. Just need to do one more last run... Tell me the lastest.

Has anyone tried to renew their visa through Iraq? That's the place closest to my location now. I wonder if they're more strict at the Iraqi border and wouldn't let me back in. At least not with the 180/90 thang.

So how does it work for new teachers to Turkey. Should we ask our employers about residency permits? I take it that that's how one can legally stay and work in the country for a full school year?

I just did the visa run through Iraq. When I re-entered they seemed very confused about which kind of visa to give me and I don't think I'll try it again since I was lucky they let me back in. It was interesting spending a couple of days in Iraq at least.
