I've never personally heard of any school reimbursing people - it's usually organised by the school. Quite normal for school owners to buy a flat specifically for this purpose.
But bear in mind that this only applies where it's difficult to attract natives. You'll never get offered any sort of deal including accommodation in the cities, for instance.
As for the quality of the accommodation - it's impossible to say. I know two people, working in small towns of around 20,000-30,000 who got quite acceptable flats paid for by the schools. But then again, the trade off was a very limited social life.
Also bear in mind that Polish school owners are ruthless - they have to be, really. Do you really want to be at the mercy of a school owner for the roof over your head?
As for how much in Poland? Hmm.. In Poznan -
Privately (students coming to my office) - 50zl/hour.
Schools (in schools - but bear in mind that I'm a freelancer) - anything between 55zl all the way up to 80zl an hour. The actual rate depends on so much - I even go so far as to negotiate individual rates for each class.
In companies (for schools) - between 65zl-85zl an hour. Again, all negotiated individually.
In companies (for myself) - between 60zl-90zl an hour. Still hoping for the magic 100zl/hour mark - but it probably won't happen anytime soon as they can get far better teachers for that money 
Really, there's no set rule for this - it depends on so much. I have one school that I work with that I charge only 55zl an hour to - but that's because I have an absolutely wonderful working relationship with the director.
But something to bear in mind - I've been here nearly 3 years and I know the marketplace pretty well. I'm able to walk away from something that I don't like or agree with - not many teachers are really in the same situation. It's also taken a lot of time to build up a reputation.
For a newbie teacher, the situation is going to be totally different. But on the whole, if you can get 50zl/hour from a school (not in Warsaw, but in a big city) - things are pretty good. Outside big cities - well, who knows? |

I live in Warsaw and and have been offered deals including accom. twice here from two different schools. It's not like it only happens in the villages. |

whats a standard page for you? 1200 characters no spaces, 1125 characters with spaces, 1500 characters with spaces, 1800 characters with spaces? or god forbid you count by letters or words...
i charge around 60zl for translation per page (1800 characters with spaces), 25zl for proofreading, around 6zl per page for copy editing. im thinking of even upping my prices as most of the pol to eng translations that ive seen are an absolute abomination yet our prices are almost the same. |
