When I first arrived at my school there were no curfew rules. I frequently had students in my room, both male & female, and had no problems. Then the FAO asked a couple of the foreign teachers (american) to write a set of rules governing behavior for the teachers. These teachers included a rather strict curfew and prohibition of any students in the teachers rooms. Fortunately, the "rules" were not in any of the contracts so most of us simply ignored them.
I should add, I thoroughly enjoyed teaching there. The school and students were a great experience. It was an overly conservative couple of foreign teachers who tended to spoil things.
Also, I never heard of any unacceptable behavior toward the students, particularly female, while they were in teachers rooms. |
