Yes, NS elitism and racism is 'rife' in our own backyard, but the beauty is that there are safeguards in place when that happens.
If it is blatant in workplace, with neighbours, etc, one follows procedure. In the Middle East it's 'bye, bye' with either salary being stopped and worse scenario a ticket back home.
If it is not 'representative of the entire Mid East', then perhaps the Asians, Philippinos, Thais are delusional when confronted by this negativity on a daily basis.
Yes, it's easy to say that in the West it happens, (it's not a place of Nirvana), but when people who profess that everything about them; culture, religion is perfect and then inflict such pain on people doesn't say much for them. |

Yesterday, KSU had a meeting with the teachers to explain that not enough teachers have been recruited to fill the classrooms, therefore many teachers will now have to teach 3 classes instead of two. 3 x 22 = 66 students. More work and less time to prepare. 24 hours of contact time in a week. As a 'reward' teachers will get 5 extra days of vacation. Yipee! Teachers also told to shut up and accept it, because the contract says you can work up to 25 contact hours, and also because there's no choice.
This is on the heels of KSU partially firing Ed Ex, cutting loose 150 teachers, and hiring a new company (Al Hussan) that reportedly had between 30-50 iqamas to bring in new teachers. Oh, and all this happened in August, a few weeks before placement tests for new students. I mean, nobody could have expected this to happen.
Up until a few days ago, there were students with cover teachers every single day because of a lack of teachers. Yesterday they took teachers out of their class and assigned them new classes, further disrupting things. Teachers built a bond over two weeks, and now all of a sudden were given 60 new students.
The ship has partially sunk. Teacher morale is extremely low and there is massive dissatisfaction amongst current teachers, and many are already polishing up their CV's and checking out Master's programs online. I suspect next year there will be gargantuan turnover and even worse staffing issues to start the academic year. |

History repeats itself, a similar incident occurred in 2011 when Bell/Obeikan pulled out of the project which resulted in a shortage of teachers. A lot of teachers were forced to teach 3 or more classes everyday. The KSU project always has a high turnover, teachers will come and go. Every year more desperate teachers and new grads sign the dotted line and accept teaching hours of up to 25 hours or more, and then complain. What you have posted here on the board is nothing new. If you are not happy with the situation, you could leave and work somewhere else. KSU has always been chaotic, and there have been countless postings on this board warning teachers to stay away. Sign the dotted line at your own risk. |

| Jonasval might as well be talking about PNU. The exact same thing is occurring there. |
