Yes, many people find the near pornography of US child pageants offensive, and as for those Young Model websites in Europe and all of those young girls walking around bare-breasted in Africa and on the beaches of Australia and South America...well, it's enough to make a man blow his top.

I think there's probably less enforcement of whatever child pornography laws there might be here, and probably such material is more out in the open than in North America, because of that. I'd hesitate to say the problem was worse in any country over another, but in general the police here seem rather lax about enforcing laws. So we get confronted by the seamier side of sexuality more than we would in other places with stricter law enforcement. If we haven't been aware of it back home, it might be surprising. Unfortunately, as non-voters, with little real power here, it's difficult for us to think what we might be able to do, though we may strongly disapprove of the situation.

I really dislike seeing such young girls as are pictured on the websites being offered as commodties. I can only wonder what their parents are thinking. Yes, there are worse things in the world, but this commercialization of young girls is part and parcel of the wider issue, including the importing of young women for prostitution, which I think is now just beginning to be addressed.

I guess, as some have mentioned we can express our opinions whenever it's appropriate. I wish I had some good ideas what I could do, but I don't. So if you, Fox1, have any, don't keep them to yourself.

I dont really think this is a judeo-christian vs. Japan issue.

What other countries in the world would condone sexualizing of children? There are certain standards that I think all civilized societies follow. The issue in Japan is nt the material. Most Japanese find it repugnant, too. The issue here is the response, or lack thereof. There is a large dose of "shikata ga nai" that is frustrating.

I wonder what kind of sick idiot parent would ALLOW their child to be photographed for this kind of garbage anyway? How can they sleep at night knowing that in apartments all over Japan, dirty old men are having a good drool over photos of their daughters, imagining what they want to do to them....

But I guess it's OK as long as they get a little cash

Sorry for bringing this thread up again but it was just perfect for answering my questions.

I noticed this type of thing the other day while looking at hot japanese bikini models (you know the type!) on youtube. There was a video of a girl claiming to be 13 and she probably was by the looks of it. It was very provatcive all the typical japanese angles except with clothes (bikini) on.

There was a comment from a user asking was this legal and commenting that it was terrible? another user had written back that it was popular in japan and was legal if the girls were in swimsuits or had other clothes on over there underwear ie a skirt but i dont know how true that is as this one seemed to be wearing more underwear type clothes (Bra and nickers) in some scenes.

well anyway there was a japanese symbol in the tag for the vid so i stuck that into bablefish but it didnt translate very well. so i put the symbols into google search. Books and videos being sold on amazon popped up so i went into amazon site and there was loads of this the youngest i saw was 9 the oldest 16 in provocative positions full picture books and vids dedicated to them. A couple of other sites popped up but i was too scared to look at them never know what you might get but then again if amazon stock such an extensive library of this not trying to hide their age (it says it on the provocative cover shot and you cant make an 18 yearold look like a 9 year old) it must be legal but then again if you put the name of these books into amazon.com not .jp these books dont register in a search.

That vid has over 2000 views on youtube and it is not even one that you have to sign into your account to watch. So maybe they think it is ok aswell
