When I left Saudi a month ago, this site that you are on right now was/is one of the blocked sites. So don't think it is only porn that's blocked. They block what they want when they want.

Yeah and if you have a VPN or proxy you can still get on this site even if it is blocked. Just like I'm doing right now from Riyadh.

Yeah, if you have the right software to unblock the sites in Saudi I guess you can play ... (err, post) with yourself. The rest of us can't see what your posting here anyway until we leave the country.

Some people might be sexually aroused by Grendal's avatar. I think it should be banned.

A couple of popular VPN choices:

http://hidemyass.com/

and

http://strongvpn.com/

I currently use the HMA! Pro VPN (yearly subscription) and it allows me to do access everything I normally do back in the states (even streaming my netflix). You may encounter some obstacles when you try to use the VPN at your work place (depending upon your employer). If you do, just email HMA!'s customer service and they can usually help you work around it. They're pretty fast with their response time.

Are all porn sites blocked? Not at work but generally. For example if you have a laptop or desktop computer at your home?

I'm waiting to see if we have anyone here who has visited them all so that he can report. Cool

I wondered who'd be the first to try that ploy. Laughing I expect that there are a few, but certainly significantly less than men... especially men in the Kingdom of ladies swathed in black abayas.

If women can be allowed to drive in Saudi, maybe they'll be allowed to look at porn.

In the Arab Spring, anything can happen.

My veiled sentiments...

This site is no longer blocked. They do a good job of blocking porn sites. Google is set on permanent safe. Rolling Stone is blocked. The Pirate Bay works, but you can't browse the porn forum. You can still find your particular kink if you search for it. It's worth the low price of a VPN just for normal surfing. I was answering a student's question about an innocent English word but trying to find it on google was hard to do.

Some students know how to get around the censorship. One showed me his Facebook friend which is someone who posts porn that gets around the filters of both facebook and Saudi.

Some of my military students, (officers) had some kind of code that allowed one free access to the internet. It changed regularly. They often shared it with instructors.
